How hungry do you have to be?

So Claire (twitter: @wingcolor)  and I have survived the first official day of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management Conference (twitter: #allianceconf).  We arrived yesterday to the stunning La Quinta Resort.  Swept off our feet by very helpful staff we were usered to our room in a golf cart, all baggage brought in and well, WOW.  Swank.  Color me extra happy at the stack of granny smith apples I helped myself to in the lobby.

Dead tired from our first am flight from DC to LAX and add in the 2 hour van ride to Palm Springs and we were beat so a nap was a must.  Well I napped first, Claire had to take advantage of one of the forty one pools just outside our door.  At 118 degrees I was happy not to leave the room.  After a nap we went to find food.  We had read in our hotel book of all these great places to eat, so imagine our surprise when we found the Mexican place closed.  No worries we head downstairs to twenty6 and have a crazy $60 lunch.  We got all checked in at the conference, napped some more and wow it was time for dinner so we looked for someplace else.  Again, nothing.  We ate again at twenty6.  Another $60 bucks.

Sadly we learned the Mexican place is only open Thursday to Saturday and everything else with the exception of a small cafe (which serves the food from twenty6) there is no food on site but "you can walk to nearby restaurants" it is only 2 miles (in 118 degrees).  Humm....

Tonight after the opening reception we wanted to have food but not much.  Small tidbits.  Room service had (wanna guess?) the same food as twenty6 so we decided we would just room service like 6 sodas but they were all Pepsi products so we sat and were confused.  But then off we went to the replublican run Domino's who wile we will disagree with them on just about everything else they serve Coke products!  So here is a snapshot of our order:

In that they only serve Pepsi at the hotel and the bottles are $2 in the cafe and the cafe closes late afternoon, we thought we ought be wise on our Coke products.  Oh... and we had the munches.  We were not really hungry but hey, it was less than $60 bucks!

~ Enjoy
