Identity Crisis

So, a few months ago, Jordan started buying/drinking this new Canada Dry Green Tea Ginger Ale. Being crotchety and set in my ways at 27 years old, I flat out refused to try it. Of course, being mostly an adult, I never actually said I refused to try it, but in my head, I was definitely thinking that a whole lot of things were going to have to freeze over before I would drink such a thing. I'm not a huge fan of either ginger ale OR green tea, the word "sparkling" makes me suspicious, and I object to anything even vaguely healthy-sounding in my fizzy beverages, strictly on principle. What principle? I don't know. The one that says that antioxidants do not belong in my delicious soda. Have you heard of Diet Coke Plus? Probably not, and there's a reason for that. It's like selling a vitamin rich Big Mac. Wrong audience.

Anyway, as everyone in the DC Metro area knows, we went through quite a cold spell here recently, and, well, I guess a whole lot of things did freeze over. Actually, we just ran out of my normal diet soda and I was forced to turn to the dreaded ginger ale/tea hybrid. I don't care for ginger ale and I don't care for tea, but maybe combined, they'd be tolerable. That's what I told myself, anyway. I was assuming, of course, that they'd actually combine. Unfortunately, this beverage manages to be both ginger ale and green tea, distinctly and silmultaneously. It is not one, it's not the other, and it's not some combination of the two. It's both. At the same time.

Frankly, I was extremely uncomfortable the whole time.

I have returned to diet soda. Zero calories, zero real sugar, zero attempts to be healthy or interesting. Just like I like it.
